Register at the voting place in your precinct, if you have become 21 since last election, have been in the state for one year and have lived in your precinct for four months, you should register if you did not vote in the last | election . . . Friday night is dupli cate bridge night at Oak Hall hotel at 7:45. Also at 8:15 p. m. at the Congerjrational Church House the Irene ’Kohler piano concert will be held, benefit of St. Lukes Hospital . . . Another important meeting TONIGHT: the Tryon P.-T. A. will hear Cary L. Page of the School Board talk on the coming bond election. Whether he is for it or against it, the notice does not say. Anyway he is a taxpayer and is entitled to a hear ing. He is considering the welfare of his children and future grand- ! children as well as the various small communities such as exist in this county throughout the state . . . Another important event, for FRIDAY night is the second football game of the season at Harmon Field under lights. The locals meet Walnut at 8 o’clock. . . Fletcher Jolly, 73, of Forest Citv, was struck by a car and killed Wednesday night in the Sandy Mush Community. Rotary Governor Coming District Governor Tom Lambeth of Rotary International, superin tendent of the Statesville Public Schools, will pay an official visit to the Tryon Rotary Club Friday at 1 p. m. at Oak Hall hotel. He will be the guest of President George C. Vance. Governor Lambeth will outline the aims and ideals of Rotary International and inspect the achievements and spirit of the Tryon club and its relations with the world-wide felowship of Ro tary International which seeks to promote better service to com munities, good will among all nations and lasting friendship with one another. There will be a special meeting of officers, directors and commit tee chairmen at 11 o’clock before ' the regular meeting. Tryon Club Championship Scheduled For Sunday The finals in the Tryon Country Club Championship Golf Tourna ment will be played Sunday- be tween Dr. W. T. Linn of Inman and Fred Edwards of Tryon. It will be a 36 hole match starting at 9 a. m. Eighteen holes will be plaved in the mornine and 18 in in the afternoon. Linn qualified with an 9o and Edwards qualified with a 75. The contest promises to he close. Linn has a normal handicap of five and Edwards two. But the handicap has no part in the scoring for the chamnion ship. Edwards ’"“ached the finals by defeating Pill Lord and Linn by defeating Edward Savre.
